Whenever I listen to a mix, the most important thing I think to myself is… does it have replay value? I mean, sure you could play any mix as many times as you want. But would you want to? I still listen to the Kid B Dope Vol. 2 tape regularly and that’s a prime example of a mix that has serious replay value. Distinctive song selection, creative mixing and a flow that can only be felt. DJ Sol Rising brings us what I believe is truly a mix with replay value. The turntablist from Oakland, CA brings together funk, soul, electro, reggae and oldies, along with whatever else he felt like, which makes it a very aurally interesting and fun mix from start to finish.
