As a little primer for the weekend, I thought I’d post a newly released live mix from one of my favorite names in Deep House right now, WiLDKATS (Hot Creations, Get Physical, among other imprints) . This is a perfect summer mix to get your Friday off to a spicy start. Back in March, I had the pleasure hearing this exact set from the up-and-coming East London trio live at the St. Patty’s Day Verboten event in NYC. This set is chock-full of WiLDKATS signature Deep House bass lines and dubbed-out disco sounds. I love many of WiLDKATS’ original tracks, especially WiLDKATS + TBoy- Slick Rick(Akbal Music), which is a great choice to get this particular mix going at about 6 minutes in. Their catchy bass lines and grooves are emblematic of the contemporary Deep House sound and if you happen to explore some more of their tracks , you’ll find that they have a knack for sampling vintage hip hop vocals. I’m particularly fond of this maneuver, being a long-time hip hop fan. Not mad.
