For those of you who don’t know, Chief Keef is a 17-year-old rapper from Chicago who made waves in the hip-hop scene this year with his breakout hit “I Don’t Like”. The track garnered so much attention that Kanye West took it on and remixed it along the likes of Big Sean, Pusha T and Jadakiss. The attraction of the track is undoubtedly the gritty and dark production by Young Chop as Keef’s lyrics could really only appeal to those with very low standards for creativity. I am (guiltily) a big fan of the remix, particularly Kanye and Big Sean’s verses, but Aylen and Dotcom have come along with a terrific rendition to port this hood anthem into the world of crunkstep. This one goes hard AF.
Bonus! Speaking of hood anthems getting fattened by a bit of dubstep, check out CRNKN‘s rendition of Ace Hood‘s “We On”… One of my favorite hood remixes of the year.
