I stumbled across this song from producer Dreams last night and have not been able to get it out of my head since. Self-described as ’80’s trap fantasy’, “OooO” was released almost a year ago and came to my attention from its appearance on Brooklyn-based label/blog Astronautico‘s Atlantics Vol. 2, a 41-track compilation of uplifiting and very off-the-beaten-path ‘dance’ music (which you can download for free here). Dreams takes a Teena Marie vocal track, cranks up the pitch and throws some 808’s beneath, giving it an unassuming, blissful sound. What the track lacks in depth, it makes up for with serene simplicity. I envy you if you’ve known about this track since its release; I consider myself fortunate to have finally stumbled across it. Included below it is another similar track of Dream’s. He also just produced a new album that sounds very different from these songs but the production still shows why his name is what it is (DL for free here).
