Yuletide Depth Charge from Butane and a Surprise…

1

In honor of stormy skies and swirling cold winds, I thought it would be nice to offer up a live set I’ve been really into the past few days.  What better to do this than some wonky techno and deep house from Midwestern underground heavy hitter, Butane? This set was recorded live in August at Primary Nightclub right here in Chicago. As it happens, Butane was in Chicago this past weekend for another go at Primary in addition to an afterhours warehouse soiree. As for Primary, this club is one of my favorites; it’s a basement venue with VOID sound and a 30 ft. LED wall with some pretty intelligent visuals. As for the DJ/Producer/Entrepreneur, Butane runs Alphahouse Records, one of the foremost minimal techno/house imprints out of North America.  His label and the parties that they’ve thrown have gained St. Louis some recognition in the underground scene, and to provide exposure to one of North America’s most forward-thinking underground labels. Butane has also put out music on Crosstown Rebels and Little Helpers, among other noteworthy imprints. As far as this live set goes, it’s been tough to track down track ID’s and as much as I’d like to share them with you, it’s almost nicer to enjoy the mixing and the continuous piece of music. So happy holidays, support the artists, and enjoy this Butane live set when the vibe is proper (!!!).

And a BIG P.S… I’ve also included a copy of Sasha’s new track Smoke Cone, just released on his label Last Night on Earth. All I have to say is that he’s done it again…I have it on repeat. Classic underground sounds with just enough crossover appeal, AKA what Sasha does best. Be sure to support him and his label on Beatport. Also, check out the remixes and stay tuned for the release of his much anticipated Involver 3 compilation.
