It’s really absurd how many times I’ve listened to this song in the past few days. THIS is the Baauer I remember falling in love with. The Baauer who made real trap music before trap music was such a fad. The Baauer who doesn’t just play “Harlem Shake” three times (among other overplayed trap hits) in his sets every time. The young Brooklyn viral sensation takes the remix duties on the new single from AlunaGeorge, who you might remember for her vocals on Disclosure‘s hit song “White Noise”. The lyrics she lays down are fantastic: crisp and biting and perfect to be paired with an bass-heavy trap drop. Baauer makes excellent use of her vocals in alternating pitches to make up the meat of his contribution and leaves the original to do the rest of the work. Truly fine work here and it has me really excited to hear some less mainstream stuff to come out in Baauer’s emerging releases.
