Just a few more days until I make my way down to Miami to join in on the festivities so can you really be surprised that I have butts on the brain? As busy as we’ve been putting all the final pieces in place for this epic journey, I’ve been compiling a few chilled out tunes from some artists I think are really worth watching. You may have heard some of this music before or maybe not but no doubt you will enjoy some off-the-beaten path tunes.
Anybody who has a good idea of my taste in music knows that I have a serious weak spot for French touch. And it’s been a while since I’ve found a producer that makes it quite like JNL. The Canadian producer, formerly part of the duo Get Famous, has been in the game for quite some time and is just now getting around to work on his first full-length album. In the meantime, he’s released some classic gems through his Bandcamp page in the form of his Pre Album EP, which is just butter from start to finish. So you can start your collection, here’s two of his tracks to give you a taste of his flavor:
Next up, I present Norweigan producer Cashmere Cat. While there’s very little to learn from Cashmere‘s social media pages, it’s very easy to like the trippy, hard-to-classify sound found throughout the catalog of remixes and originals. Fans of Schlomo and XXYYXX will likely be instant fans of this. It’s different and that’s exactly what we like about it.
Finally, I have absolutely fallen in love with French Kiwi Juice lately (FKJ for short). Like JNL, his sound is very French (although more funk and soul-influenced) but unlike JNL, that stems from the fact that he is actually indeed French. Hailing from Paris, the young producer has given away some truly amazing stuff on his SoundCloud, including “Lying Together” which is arguably one of the best songs I’ve ever heard (shit you not). He’s also given away his The Twins EP which I highly recommend you pick up on his Facebook page. Do NOT sleep on FJK.
