One of my favorite Swedish producers is back with another banger: John Dahlback. Today he released “Nuke” on Nicky Romero’s Protocol Recordings and it goes hard in a way that only Dahlback can manifest. I thought the title was an interesting choice because although it screams “banger alert”, Wolfgang Gartner released a song by the same name last year that is equally as destructive to dance floors. “Nuke” has a grimy Electro feel to it, with unique sounds that Dahlback never ceases to come up with, including a chopped-up vocal sample throughout the drop. My one complaint, however, is after the first drop the song drops off to some more melodic chords. Dahlback seems to do this a lot with his epic bangers, perhaps to build up more excitement for the second drop. Whatever the reason, I really dig the way this track hits and as always I’ll be excited to hear what he comes up with next.
By the way, if anyone knows where I can find his 2008 Essential Mix, kindly point me in the right direction.
