Today I want to call attention to UK producer Louis La Roche and his latest EP Composure. The 22 year old producer, if you’re unfamiliar, has made a name for himself in nu-disco circles over the past several years primarily for his extensive remix work, putting out well over 40 remixes in his production career, as well as a handful of original work including his most recent single “Say I’m Your No. 1”, which he released for free download on his SoundCloud Page a little over a month ago. Compared to his earlier work, Louis La Roche has been experimenting with lots of new sounds in a departure from his nu-disco background and never has that been more apparent than on this latest EP. Composure is comprised of five new original tracks, each taking elements from modern and past dance music themes, wrapping them up beautifully. Perhaps the most incredible part of this EP is Louis La Roche‘s ability to create sample-driven tracks without using other’s samples: the entire EP is apparently all original, with nothing borrowed and 100% from the head of LLR. An overview of the tracks from his SoundCloud:
‘Dance With Me Tonight’ is a dance floor banger, full of energy and delivers a solid chunky Italo bass line throughout. The second track ‘Keep In Touch’ sounds like that rare 1982 Boogie Funk record that you missed whilst digging for the gems! Taking influence from Funk legend D-Train, the vintage synth sounds make this track a total throwback to a golden era. ‘Looking Up’ moves into a 2-step tempo and is the middle track of the EP. Cut-up vocal and a funky moog bass are the main elements here, as it’s clear that Louis has a love for G-Funk. Track four is ‘Let Go’ and delivers a Nu-Disco sound with big breakdowns and build ups. Think Tensnake meets Aeroplane! Finally the last track on this EP is called ‘So Good’. A killer groove carries a soft female vocal into vintage synths and funky guitars. A perfect ending to an EP that’s sure to be a future classic.
The EP isn’t yet available in the US and no word on a release date but enjoy this mid-quality stream in the meantime and be sure to check out his SoundCloud page for tons of free music from this fantastic producer (his Scenery Mixtapes and remixes are a great place to start).
His latest Scenery Mixtape is not to be missed:
