Well, Sound Remedy has done it again. The Chicago-turned-LA native just released his truly epic remix of London Grammar‘s “Wasting My Young Years” and is offering it as a free download over on his Facebook page. Last month we featured Sound Remedy’s original track “Chiaroscuro”, which is a melodic down-tempo track that transitions into a Trap record complete with click-clack sound effects. Sound Remedy doesn’t like to box himself into any one genre and all his SoundCloud tracks are labeled “Sound Remedy” rather than Dubstep, Downtempo, House, etc. While I don’t like getting caught up in the genre game, I do feel it helps me explain the general feel and sound of a track. The original version of “Wasting My Young Years” is a ballad mostly absent of drum patterns and dance music elements, giving Sound Remedy the creative freedom to remix it however he saw fit. The result is somewhere in the Down-Tempo/Dubstep world and even sounds similar to the style Seven Lions has developed (he calls some of his work “ProgStep” which I think may fit here). Either way, Sound Remedy’s remix of “Wasting My Young Years” is beautiful and powerful at the same time; truly a great piece of work. Mr. Remedy will be doing a full tour this Summer/Fall so make sure you get out and see him!
