Who knows how to take a piece of cheese and turn it into a banger? Not many producers out there do, but one of them is Lucky Date, whose sound I’ve always loved. Don’t get me wrong folks, I respect artist like Arty, Hardwell (Lucky Date remixed his song “Apollo”), and Dirty South/Thomas Gold (Lucky Date remixed their song “Alive”) for their production skills and what they’ve done for the dance music world, but all of them have created some cheesy music on one or more occasions. To the best of my knowledge, however, Lucky Date has avoided the dairy aisle in favor of a harder and edgier sound; in keeping with parallels we’d probably be more likely to find him in the power tools section of Home Depot. If you’re looking for hard-hitting action in the Electro-House world, Lucky Date needs to be at the top of your list. As I continue to say, true Electro-House seems to be fading a bit, at least in what’s crushing the charts lately, so I highly appreciate it when a new song comes out that makes me amped up in a way that only Electro can. Back in February I posted Lucky Date’s crusher “Freak” and more recently he was featured as part of John Dahlback’s Mutants compilation – both worth checking out. While Lucky Date kept the melodies and vocals intact with his remix of “Grand Finale”, the drops are so much more fun to listen to.
