When I saw a new Seven Lions tune come across my desk this afternoon I knew I had to immediately check it out. I saw it was a collaboration with Hungarian Trance duo Myon & Shane 54, who have really made a name for themselves over the past couple years. Above & Beyond have been supporting Myon & Shane 54, as well as Seven Lions, on their Trance Around the World/Group Therapy podcasts and I quickly realized I had heard this gem before – it was even featured last week on Group Therapy Radio #041 as the record of the week. After seeing Seven Lions perform for the first time at Electric Daisy Carnival New York, I realized he isn’t just a Trance/Dubstep/Uplifting Dubstep production wizard, but he can really rock a crowd too; this is why my eyes perked up when I saw “Strangers” was out as of yesterday. Want to know the coolest thing about “Strangers”? It’s featured as part of the original motion picture soundtrack for The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones (in theaters now). Seven Lions and Myon & Shane 54 recruited the beautiful vocals of Swedish singer Tove Lo to really put a stamp on this outstanding track which really does have it all: a hard-hitting drop, an uplifting and melodic break, and a signature Seven Lions Dubstep piece (around the 3:00 mark).
As always if you like what you hear, show all the artists some love – I know I will be.
