After two very successful debut shows in New York in 2012, Sensation has returned this Fall for its first U.S. tour: Sensation “The Ocean of White”. So far the tour has visited the three cities of Oakland, Las Vegas, and Miami and this weekend it returns to Brooklyn’s Barclays Center. In 2013 Sensation has been presenting to its U.S. audience “The Ocean Of White”. In this show the arena is transformed into a water world full of mysteries of the unexplored. This weekend you can expect water running through a raised canal and numerous fountains bursting water against the roof. You’ll discover an ocean spectacle that explodes to the beat of the music.
Having attended Sensation’s U.S. debut last year I can say with full confidence this is an event worth venturing to. Sensation started 13 years ago in 2000. The original event, which ran exclusively in the Amsterdam Arena for a period of five years until 2005, is now located throughout Poland, Spain, Austria, Chile, Germany, Belgium, Hungary, Czech Republic, Latvia, Russia, Denmark, Lithuania, Portugal, Serbia, Brazil, Norway, Ukraine, United Kingdom, and starting from 2012, the United States, South Korea, Thailand, Taiwan, Turkey and Romania. In 2013 Sensation saw its debut in Italy and South Africa. As one of the largest dance music events in the world Sensation is now set to celebrate its 100th show in one of the greatest cities in the world.

Personally speaking it was one of the best nights I had in 2012. There were so many elements of the evening that added up to smiles all around. A white party in its own right is a pretty spectacular site to see and something unique to take part in – and the dress code is fully enforced upon entry. The Barclays center is a brand-new arena, opened just last year making it the perfect host for something like this. One of my favorite aspects of Sensation in the U.S. is that it’s 21+. No offense to you youngins out there, but when you weed out the teenie boppers at a dance music event everything automatically gets better – people are there to have fun and enjoy the music and you hardly ever see anyone acting irresponsibly (in Amsterdam it started for the love of the music, why can’t it be that way here too?). The production value at Sensation is through the roof. The stage design is unique (centered in the middle of the arena, rotating 360 degrees), there are flowing waterfalls throughout the arena, objects popping out from the rafters, beautiful girls performing acrobatics, fire and lights at perfect moments, and overall a spectacle that needs to be witnessed first-hand to truly understand.
And then there’s the music. Sensation books some of the best DJs in the world and if House music is your thing then you’re going to the right place. Slated for the U.S. dates were Fedde le Grand, Michael Woods, Nic Fanciulli, Prok & Fitch, Sebastien Leger, Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano, and of course Mr. White (no, not Walter White). For Brooklyn, the lineup includes Mr. White, Fedde Le Grand, Nic Fanciulli, and Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano. Last year’s lineup was quite fantastic allowing the audience to enjoy bangin’ Tech-House with Mark Knight, upbeat and funky Electro-House and Progressive House with Fedde Le Grand, and underground sounds with Danny Tenaglia and 2000 and One. Combining all this great music with incredible visuals, great people, and the city of New York makes Sensation 2013 an event you need to experience (plus it’s my birthday).
