DJ, Producer, and Leftroom label boss Matt Tolfrey was kind enough to take a little time out of his proceeding North American tour to share with us two unreleased “One800 Jacked Out” edits and an hour-long slice of his set from Movement in Detroit this past May, with all three available for free download!
The first track, “Good Vibrations (One800 Jacked Out Edit),” begins with a kind of disco groove and works its way into a harder, more techie breakdown with a very noticeable (and rather disorienting) left-right sweep in the buildup that made me feel like I was spinning on my desk chair for a moment without having moved an inch (save these tapping fingers). This 4×4 smasher sounds like a jam that would be played at the climax of your night, whether that’s before you leave the club or after.
Next up is “Swing It (One800 Jacked Out Edit).” Slower in tempo than Good Vibrations, the drums in this one are very nice, and are soon complemented by a sturdy bass line and a few scattered & distorted vocal samples. Either set the mood or keep the night alive with this track.
Think that’s good news? Tolfrey may be playing in Juarez tonight and at Detroit’s TV Lounge on Saturday, but TOMORROW night (Friday), you and your friends can catch his extra-special six hour set (10pm-4am) at Chicago’s hottest club–Spybar–for FREE! All you’ve gotta do is be 21, get there before midnight if you’re a dude, and say ‘Oxtavius’ at the door!
