Martin Luther King Jr. weekend is upon us and Boston’s Bijou Nightclub has a couple events you’re not going to want to miss – and we can help get you there!
First up this Friday is Visionquest and Hot Creations Techno/House legend BUTCH. Hailing from Germany, over 100 releases in 5 years have enabled BUTCH to express his versatility and brutefully force his way to becoming a shaping artist in the worldwide landscape of electronic music. Anyone who manages to release on the labels of artists such as Ricard Villalobos (Sei es Drum), Sven Väth (Cocoon) and Radioslave (Rekids) within a year and gets voted “producer of the year” (2010 & 2011) by the GROOVE magazine readers for two consecutive years, has doubtlessly worked his way up to the small circle of artists, which pack the most renowned clubs and festivals as headliners. Capturing what Butch’s style is exactly isn’t that simple. The range within the productions of the Mainz born artist stretches from House to Techno, but Butch manages to inject his own authentic and unique sound, which digs itself through the fans’ and DJs’ ears right into their hearts. Having seen BUTCH perform as part of Visionquest, I can tell you firsthand this guy is going to throw down Friday night!
Sunday night brings Boston another veteran of dance music: Martin Buttrich. Martin Buttrich is famously as fluent behind a mixing console as in front of a virtual drum kit. That technical prowess, combined with a fascination for music of every shape, has resulted in outstanding releases on influential labels such as Planet E, Four:Twenty, Cocoon, Poker Flat, Nervous and Desolat. He’s also put his sonic thumbprint on many big ticket artists, notably receiving a Grammy nomination for a Tori Amos remix in 2003. Such diverse musical horizons are rare. While other prolific artists may have slowly watered down their music, Buttrich’s star has risen in diametric opposition.
Here’s what we have for you: package one is a pair of tickets to see Butch on Friday AND Martin Buttrich on Sunday. Package two is a pair of tickets to see Martin Buttrich on Sunday. Good luck, stay close to your email to see if you won (winners for the two-night will be announced Friday afternoon, winner for Sunday will be announced over the weekend).
