If you don’t have an open mind, I should probably advise you to turn back now. Now that those people have left us, let’s break down Australia’s SAFIA. It’s certainly not news that Australia has been producing some of the finest music these days, hands down. SAFIA, while they certainly follow in a long line of Aussies, can hardly be likened to any of their counterparts. In fact, they have one of the most unique sounds I’ve heard of late. It’s unclear by looking at their public information what each member of the trio is responsible for, but according to an interview with Triple J, they are able to obtain their unique sound by writing most of their music on acoustic instruments like guitars and pianos and then bringing it into the studio to add layers of beats and synths, eventually ending up with their unique sound. “Paranoia, Ghosts & Other Sounds” is closest to indie-electro-pop in sound but is very difficult to pin down. The only other group I would think that comes close would have to be the boys of Lemaitre (who just came out with a new single!). Give the track a listen with an open mind and I swear you won’t be disappointed.

Just to give you an idea of the contrast these guys are capable of, check out this AWESOME remix of theirs from a few months back, which is one of my favorite of their releases. Their whole Soundcloud deserves your attention, though, and definitely a follow.
