I think it’s safe to say anyone living in the United States’ Northeast is more than ready for a Spring filled with warm air, sunshine, and dry feet. While the weather may not quite be there yet, “Lumina” by Dualist Inquiry certainly helps to bring Spring vibes to the forefront. “Lumina” may be a lot more chilled out than tracks I normally post, but there’s no reason not to shine light on Dualist Inquiry’s latest production.
Dualist Inquiry is the brainchild and solo project of Sahej Bakshi, a music producer, guitarist and cerebral agent who graduated from the Thornton Music School at USC in Los Angeles, CA. Since returning to India in 2010, Sahej has grown to be considered one of the leading producers and live performers of electronic music in India, releasing original music and touring extensively. His sound is broadly categorized as a fresh mix of live electronica and guitar-based rock (“Rock-influenced Electronica” according to his Facebook page). Sahej has been the preferred supporting act for an impressive list of international producers and DJs touring India, including David Guetta, Fatboy Slim, Basement Jaxx, KOAN Sound and Hexstatic. In addition, he has performed internationally at the Berlin Music Week (2010), and the Great Escape Festival (2011) where he opened for Beardyman and the legendary DJ Shadow.
I think “Lumina” will show you some of Dualist Inquiry’s talents and it seems like now may be the time for his stardom to break out of India and into the international realm. I’m a sucker for pitched and chopped-up vocals (fidget vocals) a la producers like Madeon, TheFatRat, and Skrillex – “Lumina” certainly has plenty of that. While I don’t consider the track to fall into your stereotypical House genre, it’s about as close as you’re going to get (one friend actually called it Country… I disagreed).
