Art Department is the brainchild of Canadian Techno/House legend Kenny Glasgow and Canada’s fastest rising star and No.19 label owner Jonny White. As individuals both Kenny and Jonny have released countless critically acclaimed records and are regarded internationally as two of the most forward-thinking, relevant underground producers out of North America. Kenny’s credentials date back to the late 80’s and include productions on Narcotic, Jinxx, his own Method 11/11 label and Turbo. White’s revered No.19 Music label celebrates its five year anniversary this year and has seen him rapidly rise to the forefront of the international scene.
No. 19 just released a 5 Years of No.19 Music compilation on March 31. In the last half decade, No.19 Music has carved out its own electronic niche, releasing fresh and artistic house and techno with a very unique personality and a huge impact on the dance floor. Art Department has also just kicked off their No. 19 Social Experiment residency at the much-respected Output nightclub in New York.
Art Department recently offered up their new track “Heartbreakers Techno” for free download in anticipation of their Coachella sets on Sunday April 13 and Sunday April 20. “Heartbreakers Techno” is a Deep House tune that remains pretty mellow throughout a very melodic composition. After the weekend I had it’s safe to say it’s quite literally music to my ears being able to enjoy this Art Department track to start my week. I’m also very excited to check out the boys this weekend when I head to my first Coachella.
