I’m actually getting a little sick of writing about Gary Richards, aka Destructo, aka the Hardfather. But it’s so hard not to write about a DJ/Producer/Events Founder when there’s nothing bad you can say about him. The founder of HARD Presents and funky-as-hell DJ and Producer who goes by Destructo dropped his latest track on us today and it’s a G-House bomb. Called “Party Up”, and featuring the vocals of YG (Keenon Daequan Ray Jackson, a 24-year-old rapper from Compton, CA), the track is going to be part of Destructo’s West Coast EP dropping later this Summer. As I’ve mentioned before, Destructo has moved in a musical direction that favors G-House and Hip-Hop infused tracks – and I’m all for it. After seeing Destructo tear down the house at Audio in San Francisco this past weekend, I can attest that the crowd has been enjoying this evolution too – though he kept things balanced with some Deep House tracks and plenty of his originals.
“Party Up” is a straight fire track and I’m very excited to hear the rest of the West Coast EP later this Summer. Moreover I’m excited to book my cabin for Holy Ship 2015 this week and to hit up Hard Red Rocks and Hard Summer in the next couple months.
One thing I’ll say is I wish Destructo would post a full version of “Party Up” on SoundCloud, but for now you can either download it on Beatport, watch it as part of the Holy Ship 2014 recap, or stream it from YouTube.
