Earlier this week, Bay Area underground veteran and Acid Crunk mastermind An-Ten-Nae dropped a fresh future bass remix of alt-J‘s new single, “Hunger Of The Pine.” It’s an exciting reworking of an already-great track that highlights the best elements of the song and uses them in an interesting way while bringing something new to the table in the form of An-Ten-Nae‘s signature bass sound. It’s dark, it’s bubbly, and it’s definitely alternative in more ways than one. This is not your typical dance remix.
In many ways, the remix follows the same structure as alt-J’s original version, including a climactic finish with horns and haunting vocals, but An-Ten-Nae does what he does best and adds a distinct bass-heavy twist throughout the entire track. It’s a slow track, but it packs a heavy punch and lots of energy. As always, An-Ten-Nae is a force to be reckoned with when it comes to creating truly unique bass music.
