I think the song title speaks for itself in this case but I’ll do my best to explain why DJ Green Lantern‘s latest track “Funk Space Coaster” is a must-hear for the weekend. Originally premiered on ThisSongIsSick.com, Atlanta’s Green Lantern dropped some straight up filth on us today by fusing the worlds of Funk and Trap into one delicious 4:30 track. There are plenty of horn licks and James-Brown-esque “wooo” screams throughout the track and there’s no way “Funk Space Coaster” won’t have your head nodding to the beat. My biggest question is what Green Lantern sampled this gem from, my guess being multiple old-school Funk tracks, but none I can directly put my finger on.
Back in January I posted Green Lantern’s stellar remix of “Fuckwind” by Tommy Trash, showing off his unique and polished production skills with a Hotlanta twist. Today’s “Funk Space Coaster” shows that seven months later Green Lantern is still crankin’ away and if you’re into his sounds then you already know you have to keep your eyes on him.
