In case you missed it, rising star Justin Jay dropped some FIRE last week and as an added bonus to his fans he released it for free. The song in question is called “Bounce and Break” and you better believe it’s a dance floor gem with incredibly high production value. Justin Jay writes on his SoundCloud page “Inspired by the hip hop jams I heard at my middle school dances…” and that is certainly apparent with the chopped-and-screwed vocals that repeat “bounce and break your back / you bounce so hard you break your back girl”. Let’s see… if Justin Jay is about 21 years old, that puts him in middle school between 2004-2008. Just for shits and giggles I looked up some of the jams of those times. We have: “Yeah” by Usher, “Lean Back” by Terror Squad, “Slow Jams” by Twista, “The Way You Move” by Outkast… the list goes on. Perhaps Justin Jay heard the song “Bounce N Break Yo Back” by DJ Spinn at his middle school dances because that’s what “Bounce and Break” samples in this G-House twist.
Justin Jay has quickly risen to the top of my list as far as producers who consistently write high-quality and fun songs. I’ve been listening to Jay’s remix of “Sugar & Cinnamon” by Claude VonStroke for months and it has yet to get old. I’ve also now seen Justin Jay DJ live several times and his sets are absolutely something to make sure you hear.
The bottom line is Justin Jay is the future of House music and he’s already surpassing artists who have been in the game for a long time. I’m certainly excited to see what’s next for the Dirtybird young’n and make sure to click LIKE on his Facebook page to get the free download!
