Anyone who’s a fan of Deadmau5 likely knows that his 5 Years of mau5 compilation album dropped at the end of last month and with it came 12 remixes of the songs that helped boost the producer to super-stardom (in addition to CD 1 that features a best-of from Deadmau5 so far). While we haven’t covered the entire 22-song release at length here on MMIBTY, we have touched upon the Shiba San remix of “I Remember”. That is, of course, in addition to the many times we’ve written about Deadmau5 here and the fact that you’ve heard his music on a large scale over the past 5+ years. Last week mau5trap, Deadmau5’s label, released a free version of “Aural Psynapse” released by newcomer Attlas.
In trying to find more information on the mysterious Attlas I’ve come up pretty empty. The producer, who we assume is male by his website and social media, has only one track on his SoundCloud page. Additionally, he has a limited number of social media followers and no information about who he is listed on said social media pages. But you know what? I’m okay with that because Attlas’ remix of “Aural Psynapse” is just fantastic. The original version, found below, has the very type of sound Deadmau5 hangs his hat on. It’s kind of ravey, it’s got all the bleeps and bloops you’re accustomed to, and it gets crowds moving. The Attlas remix incorporates some new pad sounds that give it a slightly deeper, more progressive sound. The cadence of those pads has a nice rhythmic bounce and it’s a track I’ve played multiple times over the past week.
If you like what you hear show some love and enjoy the free download. I’m curious to see what comes from Attlas next!
