me & my toothbrush

I may have found my new favorite Nu Disco act in Me & My Toothbrush, from Zurich Switzerland. Little biographical information is available online but most of what I’ve read describes the act using “they”, and Beatport writes “our long time in-house buddies” in the description of the release. Oh, and one person on Facebook calls them “the kings of Nu Disco”. I digress. I’m here to call attention to a particular track by Me & My Toothbrush which was released in March called “Show Me”. I heard “Show Me” listening to a recent Solidisco mix when I found out they are coming to San Francisco this weekend. Realizing I hadn’t paid much attention to Solidisco lately, and knowing how much I had previously enjoyed their work, I rolled down my windows and blasted the car stereo for some fine House tracks of varying styles. When “Show Me” by Me & My Toothbrush came on it immediately stood out. It’s the perfect fusion between fat bass lines, funk guitar licks, and melodic vocals – I knew I had to have it for my DJ sets. I did some investigating and Me & My Toothbrush are definitely on my radar now, especially since “Show Me” was released as part of a three-track EP by the same name.

If you like Nu Disco and/or funky House music, this is an act you must keep your eyes on. And make sure to grab the whole EP as well as spend some time on Me & My Toothbrush’s SoundCloud page. If you like it let them know!
