Selena Gomez, much like most Pop Music, is not my cup of tea. Top 40s music, however, leaves plenty of room for remixes – fresh takes on tracks where vocals can power through as the overall composition of the track often changes. Merk & Kremont are an Italian duo who were more on my radar not too long ago when Electro-House was more my preference. When I think of Merk & Kremont, I think of Fedde le Grand’s Dark Light Sessions radio show, as they were often featured. But over the past year or two, I’ve found myself distanced from the Electro-House that I used to cherish. Today, Merk & Kremont released their remix of Selena Gomez ft. A$AP ROCKY “Good For You”. Surprisingly, the remix is a bit downtempo from Merk & Kremont’s usual House tracks and this take on the original is really something I got behind. I like how the boys played around with the pitch of the vocals and the deep, rolling bass line is something that calls out guys from the French House camps (Gesaffelstein, Justice). Overall the remix is very well-done and it certainly has me bringing Merk & Kremont back to my attention.
