Today Mat Zo released the second single off his forth-coming album Self Assemble due out on March 25 via his label Mad Zoo. The song is titled “Sinful” and features the vocals of I See MONSTAS. Along with the single came a video which you can watch below. Mat Zo’s first single was “Soul Food” and that track is an absolute dime – already being supported in a multitude of live sets and podcasts.
I usually don’t care much for dance/electronic music videos because they don’t do much for me. They’re usually in slow motion and feature some obscure plot line that doesn’t necessarily relate to the song. I like dance music to dance, not to watch videos. So I’m here more to comment on the track itself rather than the video. Personally speaking I think it’s an attempt by Zo to get some radio play, as the song is rather poppy and falls outside the typical realm of Mat Zo tracks. I can hear a significant Daft Punk influence in “Sinful” and Mat Zo has been outspoken himself about the French duo being a big influence for him.
So, what do you think of the song and of the video? Like it? Hate it? Refreshing? Boring? Let us know and don’t forget to grab the full LP on March 25!
