Today the Splash House lineups dropped, which means Summer is really in our sights. Splash House is a Summer time celebration of awesome dance music taking place in the resort destination of Palm Springs, CA. Somehow when I was browsing the August edition my eyes darted immediately to the top line of the non-headliners: “Aeroplane & Alex Metric Present Metroplane“. First of all, awesome name. Second of all, two of my favorite DJ/producers coming together as one act? Fuck yeah!
So I did a little research and yeah I’m a couple weeks late to the party, but it turns out the party is just getting started. About 20 days ago Metroplane released their first song and it’s a fucking gem. Called “Mr. E” (would love to hear the story behind that), the song feels a little more Aeroplane (chill/vibey House music) than Alex Metric (slightly more aggressive funky House music) but if you know each artist’s music as well as I do you can definitely hear both influences on the track.
Personally I think this is a match made in heaven, as both Aeroplane and Alex Metric have similar styles but are different enough to compliment each other as a duo. The Social accounts for Metroplane are just getting started but I sincerely hope a tour and further releases are planned, as this is right up my alley. The SoundCloud post does say “the new Metroplane track from Alex Metric and Aeroplane” so I’m arriving at the conclusion that this one is just the tip of the iceberg.
