Everyone here should remember the horror they felt on 9/11. Everyone here should also remember the disappointment they felt when Daft Punk released their latest album, the TRON: Legacy soundtrack. Okay, I know it’s a stretch but come ON – everyone was expecting the next Discovery and it didn’t happen. Instead we got a whole mess of short tracks that weren’t danceable at all and sounded like they might as well have been the soundtrack to any Michael Bay movie. Sure, Derezzed was a good song and it was undeniably Daft Punk but it certainly wasn’t about to become the next “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger.”
Well, then comes along TRON: Legacy R3CONFIGURED. For those of you who haven’t heard of this gem, some very talented names in electronic music teamed up to take Daft Punk’s blueprint and supercharge it into the album it never was. Remixes by Boys Noize, Crystal Method, Kaskade, Avicii, and Glitch Mob, as well as some other lesser known artists all contributed some amazing production to complement Daft Punk’s own. Below I posted two of my favorite tracks but I highly recommend you check out the whole album. The Glitch Mob track is obviously a fan-favorite but the Teddybears remix is one of my personal new favs and I believe could easily have gone in the movie in place of Daft Punk’s original.
