We all know Nicky Romero has been killing it lately, with a huge response from songs like Toulouse, Generation 303, and Wild One Two. In fact, he might be our most blogged about artist since the start of 2012. His major breakthrough came when he remixed Green Velvet’s “Flash” and every DJ was playing it as part of his set. I think it’s safe to say Nicky Romero has set out to make 2012 his bitch and to show the world he should be among the top producers and DJs – he certainly has me convinced.
As part of my pursuit to rock people on the dance floor with gigs here in Boston, I’m always looking for tracks that are both crowd-pleasing yet have the presence of a banger. Look no further than Nicky Romero’s remix of “Haters Gonna Hate” by Tonite Only, who are an electronic duo out of Australia. The original is decent, with a catchy hook that sounds like a chorus of kids singing “haters gonna hate”, but Nicky Romero put a whole new [and more awesome] twist on it. The remix features a great snare drum into, a cliff-hanging build up, and a deafening drop. And the response live has been nothing but killer. It was released in December 2011, but chances are this one slipped under your radar.
Why not throw in a couple other random tracks I’ve been feeling lately? DO IT
