Feliz Cinco de Mayo

Now that we can put all that “may the fourth be with you” business behind us, it’s time to get our drink on, Meh-he-cano style. You know what that means… Coronas, Dos Equis and Modelo accompanied by a healthy appetite for tequila, all to be rounded out by a nice case of Montezuma’s Revenge. I didn’t have time to put together any festive Latin tracks for this but I was kind of in an indie mood this morning (nursing an awesome hangover courtesy of RHCP last night at Prudential Center) so here’s some new indie dance tunes I’ve been enjoying lately.

First, this one’s been everywhere over the past week and it deserves a good deal of attention. RAC, which stands for Remix Artist Collective, is rather famous for their ambiguous nature and stellar remixes. This week, however, they broke new ground by producing an original track (?!). Teaming up with Pengiun Prison for this one, RAC brings us a warm, summery indie jam.

RAC ft. Penguin Prison – Hollywood (Original Mix)

Next, one of my favorite producers Shook released an awesome remix of an already awesome synthpop song by Capitol Cities, featuring his characteristic melodic interpretation and an absolutely stellar trumpet solo.

Capitol Cities – Kangaroo Court (Shook Remix)

When it comes from Minnesota, you know it’s gotta be good. This one’s light on the dub and is a nice ambient jam.

Modeselektah – Let Your Love Grow V.2 (Minnesota Remix)

This next one I have literally had on repeat for the past two days. That’s saying a lot. I can’t remember the last time I racked up 20 plays on a song in 24 hours. It’s that good. Pick this one up immediately.

Purity Ring – Obedear

Finally, Aeroplane‘s new mix for the month of April. Always a pleasure to hear what he brings to the table in these monthly mixes.
