Welcome back everyone!
This week I tackle a very popular genre: progressive house. For EDM, “progressive” essentially means the music has much more of an uplifting, lighter sound as opposed to the hard hitting electro house genre. It differs from trance music, however in the fact the focus on house music is within the melody of the song, not so much chord progression and layered sounds. It adds a nice touch to live sets, definitely bringing about energy without all the raging. I’ll be dishing out some tracks that definitely do it for me, and no worries, no Avicii here (I know 99% of you guys are sick of ‘Levels’ at this point).
Adrian Lux – Angels (Ken Loi Remix)
David Guetta, Taped Rai – Just One Last Time (Original Mix)
dBerrie – Voices (Original Mix)
DJ Fresh – The Feeling (Julian Jordan Remix)
EDX, John Williams – Give It Up For Love (Mysto & Pizzi Remix)
Ferry Corsten – Not Coming Down (Original Mix)
Jochem Miller – Zodiac (Original Mix)
Tiesto, Mark Knight – Beautiful World (Michael Woods Remix)
I also had a producer hit me up to show me one of his latest tracks, and I felt like it would be a great example of a tried and true progressive track for this article. great buildup, perfect vocals, and an overall solid tune. I love listening to new music, especially if its something produced from a friend of mine, and sometimes I stumble upon gems like these. Definitely give this song a listen!
As always, please support the artists that I have featured free downloads for by shooting them a Facebook like:
dBerrie, Jochem Miller, Michael Woods, Ferry Corsten, Julian Jordan, EDX, Mysto & Pizzi , Ken Loi & David Guetta
(although Guetta has more than 35 million fans, but figure his Facebook deserves to be up there with the others)
Thanks again, and I hope that your DJ sets gain a boost from adding a progressive house touch to it. Out of luck for the most part if you’re looking for bass, but hey, thats what next week is for, right? Next week’s club will be doing something hard electro tunes! Stay tuned in!
