The brain children of ‘Glow Boston’, a popular weekly EDM night in Cambridge, MA, held a very unique show at the House of Blues Boston last Friday. The streets were filled with college kids ready to party, catching the eyes of the nearby Red Sox fans around the area for the game at Fenway. The event was advertised as “the biggest college party Boston has ever seen”, and anticipation was at an all time high. It’s Friday; these kids have been waiting all week to attend this. The energy for this event was very high to say the least.
Stepping inside, the venue was flooded with an intense laser light show, performers on stage, and everyone dancing to the sounds of their favorite local acts. Headliners for the event were GlowKids & Fuse and Aleka, the resident DJs of ‘Glow Boston’. Their array of progressive and electro house kept everyone on their feet, and their song choice was perfect for captivating the crowd as they played out EDM classics such as Deadmau5’s “Ghosts N Stuff” and Kaskade’s “Dynasty”. They would play in between the support acts and keep the energy going throughout the entire night.
Also what made the night very unique was the fact they shared the stage with another act: Young London. This pop punk group rocked the crowd just as hard, adding a more edgy rock sound that seemed to balance the softness of the progressive house tracks. They burst onto the stage as Tiesto’s “Maximal Crazy” went off, causing a huge uproar as they added the sounds of their live drummer and guitarist. They followed up with originals and popular cover songs from artists like Britney Spears and Lady Gaga, to name a few.
For a night of local talent, this was an amazing production. The event certainly cemented their spot in the Boston EDM scene, and you can expect even crazier events from these guys in the future.
