The producer formerly known as DJ Slink has literally slinked away from that name after enduring fierce competition from the other slinks of the trap world, redubbing himself as Huglife, a play of off 2pac’s infamous “Thug Life” theme. No matter, though, because he still manages to crank out quality trap tunes, the latest dropping late last night as a thank you to his fans for putting up with the name change and the ordeal that went with it. This one’s a remix of French female vocalist Cœur de Pirate’s cover of R&B/soul singer The Weeknd’s “Wicked Games”. The sensual vocals pair well with Huglife/Slink’s trap underpinnings and make for one of those low-key, spacious trap tunes I love so much (for more, check out his remix of La Roux) . Free download over on Huglife’s Facebook page… If you give him a like, you’ll get his entire collection for free.
As a bonus, Huglife remixed one of the most recongizable tracks from our favorite Dirtybird Claude VonStroke, giving “Who’s Afraid of Detroit” a subtle but nice trap rework.
