So I came up with this concept a little while ago but of course waited way too long to get it started. The idea behind Shuffle Sunday is this: whoever is running the post any given week will simply go through their iTunes on shuffle, sorting through all sorts of tracks spanning genres, older and newer, and find stuff we’ve never posted before or that we haven’t posted in a long time. Personally I sift through a lot of music on a weekly basis and a lot of it ends up falling through the cracks. So the point here is to introduce you (and me) to some tracks that may have slipped under the radar and reintroduce us to some old classics. I’m going to try my hardest to make this a weekly thing but to start, it’ll be bi-weekly. Sound off on our Facebook page if you really like it!
A lot of people are familiar with Madeon’s “Song 2” bootleg ever since he made it a point to start dropping it in all of his live sets. While his version is still unreleased, I did dig up this older Vengeance remix which provides a similar modern take on the classic British rock song adding in pounding kicks, filter effects, beat repeats and other edits. Great idea for any DJ’s looking to add a little old-school spice to their sets.
Blur – Song 2 (Vengeance Remix)
Remember MSTRKRFT? What the fuck happened to those Canadian drunks? They definitely used to be hands-down some of my favorite producers and DJ’s back in 2008-2009 and back around then they released a whole album of straight remixes. This is one of them, and a pretty fun one at that.
Kylie Minogue – Wow (MSTRKRFT Remix)
The king of Crunkstep teams up with Kids At The Bar, who have done a few interesting projects, one of which is a bootleg of Bingo Players’ “Cry (Just A Little)” that gets talked about a decent amount on this blog. This track will blow your ears off once it drops and you won’t see it coming. Just a bomb, right here.
Crizzly & Kids At The Bar – Like Dat
Holy hell is this a gem! This is a much older Canblaster (aka Club Cheval) remix that is simply outside of the realm of classification. It might be too weird for some, but nobody can argue that what happens at 1:48 is nothing short of fantastic. So many awesome things going on in this song.
