As Mondays typically go there are a bevy of new releases today. I’ve chosen to highlight a handful of them and they just so happen to come from the Trance and Progressive world (and yes, all three of them are collaborations). Two of these are a couple of the most anticipated releases for the month of December in Gareth Emery & Ashley Wallbridge‘s “DUI” and Mat Zo & Porter Robinson‘s “Easy”. The final tune is by a couple of my favorites in Chris Lake & Michael Woods with their track “Black Thong”. I’ll admit that based on the title I thought “Black Thong” was going to be a fun and funky one but it’s more of a Progressive and hard-hitting song that is a seemingly different kind of sound for Chris Lake (that’s probably because he had some help from Michael Woods, who rarely strays from Progressive heavy-hitters). They last teamed up two years ago on “Dominos“.
I realize we already posted “Easy” but it’s a great track and today marks its release on Beatport, where you should go pick it up. Mat Zo has a very unique sound and I must admit this one, to me, has a lot more of his influence than Porter Robinson’s footprint.
It’s also nice to see Gareth Emery going back to his Trance roots. I realize he doesn’t like to be labeled as any one genre and preaches that good music is good music (I agree), but we all know Trance is where he got his start and lately he’s been moving to the Electro side of the world. I really like the lead melody in this one and am very satisfied with the latest effort he did in collaboration with Wallbridge.
