When I saw that Kaskade & Swanky Tunes had a song out today (originally released December 2012, but I must have missed it) on the massive Ultra Records, I was immediately intrigued. Would this be a banger of epic proportions that Swanky Tunes tend to put out (and that Kaskade has been gravitating towards lately)? Would it be more of a cheesy hands-in-the-air festival anthem due to see a lot of play during Miami Music Week next month? Upon my first listen I heard soft pianos and the melodic vocals of LIGHTS within the first 30 seconds and my hopes were deteriorating. The build-up started to progress around 1:45 and I braced myself for a drop that was full of cheese. But guess what! Around 2:00 I was pleasantly surprised to hear an Electro-House dance floor-destroying drop that made me realize what we have here is a combination of a soft, melodic panty-dropper and an Electro-Chainsaw massacre. I think a good label for the tune would be Progressive-Electro but who the hell knows anymore. Crank it and check out the cool animated video that came with it.
While this came out on Beatport at the end of December 2012, the radio edit is now available on iTunes and all other digital retailers. Remixes of the track will then be released on March 26 (Rune RK Radio Edit and Tim Mason Remix Radio Edit on iTunes; Tim Mason Remix on Beatport). The music video for the infectious single is slated to premiere via RollingStone.com on Monday, February 25.
