Yesterday, American Pierce Fulton and Israeli Maor Levi released their collaboration “Wanna Be” on the British label CR2 Records (founded by Mark Brown of MYNC). Before I had even heard the song my interest was piqued because these two producers are hugely talented and, in my opinion, underrated (although both are quickly gaining steam in the dance music world). These guys have unique sounds that touch different facets of electronic music, including Trance, Electro, Dubstep, and more – but “Wanna Be” is a Progressive House monster that is sure to see a lot of play this Summer at festivals and clubs around the world; the track has already seen support from Above & Beyond and Morgan Page. Released with the original mix was a club mix that is a lot harder-hitting and falls into the Electro-House world and if I had to guess was more influenced by Maor than Pierce, but who knows if that is true. Both versions retain the “wanna be” vocal sample, which is what really ties the songs together and is why I like them so much.
Do me a favor and show Pierce and Maor some love and help them in their drive to dominate the world of dance music! Pierce puts out his Get Weird podcasts and Maor has his MOARBASS podcasts, both of which you should check out.
