So here we are. It’s Friday which means you’re probably looking for a little sprinkling of deep house and otherwise sultry underground vibes for your weekend. As it happens, Coachella begins today and it features an impressive roster of underground names that are sure to impress the crowds in Indio. If Coachella is any indication, we are beginning to see the US crowd embrace the deeper, techier sounds with greater fervor, and once again Europeans can offer a big “I told you so” to the younger yet evolving dance music fans on American soil. So if you can, catch your DJ sets live this weekend and if you’re lucky, you’re taking in performances by Maya Jane Coles, Seth Troxler, Julio Bashmore, Disclosure, and Jamie Jones (among many others) in lovely Southern California. For those not as lucky and for those who simply crave proper house and techno, fear not because we have two fantastic sets to wet your collective beaks.
First up is yet another Diynamic Podcast from Swiss DJ/Producers Adriatique, a group that we’ve featured before on MMIBTY. They continue to churn out great material on labels such as Culprit, Cityfox, and Diynamic. I can think of no better way to get a feel for their sound than this recent podcast, which features a winding journey of depth and euphoric texture. From Subb-an feat Footprintz – Rain, Amirali – Melancholia (Original Mix), to the dubby euphoria of Mario Basanov, Rahjwanti- Slip Away (Show-B Dub), Adriatique creates a vibrant soundscape in this latest mix.

Our next set comes from Israeli live jock and extremely talented producer, Guy Gerber who has enjoyed releases on Bedrock, Coccoon, Fabric, and his very own Supplement Facts label. Guy’s (live) sets are consistently ranked among the highest on Resident Advisor’s yearly poll, and for good reason. They are always on point and fresh likely because his setup retains DJ-esque flexibility while combining stand-out live performance aspects. We are definitely looking forward to catching Guy at Wavefront Music Festival in Chicago this summer. If his set at the recent Wavefront-sponsored SLS Hotel “Never Say Never” Pool Party in Miami was any indication, we are in for a huge treat on Montrose Beach this summer.
