It’s rare that a remix package comes out these days where I genuinely enjoy all the tracks being featured. Well today is one of those rare days, as the Swedes that are Dada Life released their remix package for the single “Boing Clash Boom”. Olle Corneer and Stefan Engblom may not actually have anything to do with the productions behind the remixes, but they did write the original mix that I found to be sub-par in comparison to most of Dada Life’s other songs.
Today’s release, on Dada Life’s So Much Dada label, shines light on three fresh takes of “Boing Clash Boom”. The only good part of the original mix, in my opinion, was the vocals and as expected all three remixes feature them in some way. The Bingo Players really surprised me with their version, as the drop contains an awesome sound I didn’t think they were capable of making. It’s also comforting to know the Bingo Players haven’t completely sold out with a Big Room, festival anthem sound on all their productions. I was really excited to learn Pierce Fulton would also be present on remixing duties. A fellow member of the UVM community, Pierce has really been making a name for himself over the past year and he was even invited to play with Dada Life during their Dada Land Compound parties. Fulton’s remix has a grimy and club-ready sound that reminds me of something new-comers Jewelz & Scott Sparks would produce (check out their banger “Toxic Rush” to hear what I mean). Pierce continues to impress me with his constantly-evolving sound and I can’t wait to hear what’s next from him. Lastly, Major Lazer (Diplo) put their signature touch on “Boing Clash Boom”, turning it into an absolute smash that takes different pieces of Moombahton, Trap, and Drum & Bass and throws it into a blender that comes out at 85bpm. The Major Lazer remix has some real exotic flavor and will surely motivate those ladies to twerk it.
All in all, this remix package is truly fantastic and I highly encourage fans of the tracks to go out and PURCHASE THE RELEASE ON BEATPORT.
