Hot Natured Ft. Ali Love- Benediction EP [Hot Creations]

It has been quite the last few years for Hot Natured’s Jamie Jones and Lee Foss. With a breakneck touring schedule and ever-popular record label to run,  their efforts have payed off with Jamie’s selection as the winner of Resident Advisor’s Top DJs of 2011 poll. Fellow Hot Creations label boss, Lee Foss, didn’t do so poorly either.  Here’s what RA had to say about Jamie Jones:

“The chillest bro in dance music.”

That’s the way one RA staff member described Jamie Jones earlier this year. And while that may be true behind the decks, the rise of the Hot Creations boss is more down to hard work. By our count, Jones was billed at 142 gigs in 2011, which means he nearly averaged a set every second day. Couple this with a lauded fabric CD, a whole host of remixes and the expert co-curation of a label that came to define the sound of clubland in 2011, and you’re left with a simple equation. The hottest tracks + the most gigs = the #1 DJ of 2011. (1)

Combining their individual, successful DJ/Chill Bro careers and  the reputable record label that they run,  Lee Foss and Jamie Jones are at the forefront of the modern deep house renaissance. Their Hot Creations imprint is one of the most routinely charted on Resident Advisor and in the deep house realm of Beatport.  If you are lucky enough to see either of them perform, or better yet, see both of them in lockstep performing as Hot Natured, I suggest you go for it. I had the pleasure of taking in a Hot Creations label showcase on an August boat cruise in NYC, in addition to catching Lee at Wavefront Music Festival in his hometown of Chicago. Both events were certainly highlights of my summer.  Stay tuned for a full-length album from the super duo and a new live show set to debut in the coming weeks.

Today, we are blessed to enjoy the release of Hot Natured’s anticipated track “Benediction” as part of an EP on their Hot Creations imprint.  If you managed to make it to one of their parties this summer, you probably heard it. Not to mention they have been promoting it non-stop to their legions of Facebook fans, and I’m inclined to agree with all of the hype. For “Benediction”, they also enlisted the vocal talents of label-mate Ali Love (of the duo Infinity Ink). “Benediction” is a sizzling  disco-infused deep house jam perfectly tailored to be “last track” material. This is something you end a night with on a soaring high note. The vocal is quite catchy, but if you get sick of it you also have a very compelling dub and instrumental version on the EP. Enjoy
