Thanks to a SoundCloud repost by Melbourne-native Torren Foot, popular for his track “Rondo”, I stumbled upon this excellent G-House remix of Ludacris’ “Stand Up”. Digging a little deeper, it’s no surprise Torren Foot reposted Hey Sam‘s latest production. Hey Sam is a young Melboune-based DJ, producer, record label owner and radio show host. It’s pretty absurd how much good music there is coming out of Melbourne Australia and it’s incredible that a lot of these artists are relatively young (must be something in the water). It seems Hey Sam has already built a brand for himself, as he is easily recognized by his thick-framed glasses and known for being a fun and versatile DJ. I have a theory that almost all Hip-Hop singles over the past few decades will eventually be remixed into G-House tracks or sampled in some way that reintroduces the tracks as four-on-the-floor bombs (check out Justin Martin’s new track “Buggin'” for example) and this remix of “Stand Up” shows why that theory is starting to play out. Hey Sam’s remix of “Stand Up” is everything you want in a G-House track: a four-on-the-floor beat, a fat bass line, some Hip-Hop vocals, and plenty of peak-hour presence.
I’d keep an eye on Hey Sam because chances are there are more great things to come from him. For those of you looking for the club mix of this track, simply Like Hey Sam on Facebook and you’ll be linked to a free 320kbps download (or click the shopping cart icon below). Enjoy!
