The co-founder of Fool’s Gold Records, who may be less known to the masses than his counterpart A-Trak, has absolutely struck gold with this track (pun intended). Nick Catchdubs is one of those artists I always pay attention to, whether he’s releasing a new track, he’s sharing a mix, or is listed as part of a festival lineup. Catchdubs is a huge part of the reason Fool’s Gold has been so successful with its unique sound and thriving artists and I love his ability to fuse the Hip Hop world with the Dance Music world.
On his remix of “Ay Ay”, Nick Catchdubs speeds up the track from its original Hip Hop vibe, adding significant bounce and sure-fire party anthem flavor. A seriously fat bass line combined with a chopped-and-screwed vocal hook and House music synth lines is the perfect recipe to exemplify the Fool’s Gold sound.
