The stars have aligned for my return home to Boston for Thanksgiving. Perhaps one of my favorite artists of all time, Eric Prydz, climbs behind the decks at Royale for what will undoubtedly be a show to remember on Friday November 28th. Part of me is a little tired of writing about Prydz and if you’ve been with us for the past few years you’ve seen me talk about the plethora of stellar releases he’s put out over that time. Back in August I wrote about Pryda 028 hitting the Beatport #1 in a mere 24 hours and for good reason. I’ve seen Prydz spin fantastic sets across the country at a number of events, including one at the defunct Ocean Club in Boston, but there’s something about my homecoming intertwining with Prydz’s first show at Royale that seems extra special. Maybe it’s because Royale became one of my home bases for dance music when I lived in Boston, seeing acts like Nero, Feed Me, Mat Zo, Mord Fustang, Laidback Luke, Armin Van Buuren, Tiesto, Above & Beyond, Madeon, A-Trak and so many more – and I’m looking forward to adding Prydz to that list.
Next Friday fans at Royale can expect music across the Eric Prydz spectrum. We’ll get tunes from his more-mainstream Eric Prydz alias, some amazing progressive music off the Pryda side of things, and undoubtedly some hard-hitting Techno thanks to Cirez D. And even though it’s been done so many times around the world, I’d be ecstatic to hear Eric Hit Us With Those Laser Beams.
From what I hear there are very limited tickets remaining for this one and it is sure to be a sell-out show. Whether or not you’re a fan of Eric Prydz, but you’re a fan of going on musical journeys – do everything you can to hang with the Boston MMIBTY crew and mr. Prydz himself.
