After a wild and exhausting weekend (writeup on Lightning in a Bottle to come), I was scanning my SoundCloud feed today for something relatively mellow yet still worth writing about. Of course when I saw that Shemce had remixed the timeless classic “Strobe” by Deadmau5 I knew half my work was done… I just had to listen and make sure this was something worth talking about. Well sure enough I found my feature for today because, frankly, unless you’re a complete moron it’s pretty hard to fuck up a song as good as “Strobe”. Of course I say this with respect to any notable producer out there, because if you’re going to attempt a remix of this track you know it needs to be of the highest quality.
So, our boy Shemce remixed “Strobe” without any complaints from me. Shemce’s remix keeps the same melodies that made Strobe popular, but gets right to the point without as much of the buildup. Shemce adds deeper bass lines and additional layers of melody, and it’s something that really flows well to help me through my post-long-weekend haze. In case you aren’t familiar with Shemce, I posted his remix of Notorious BIG’s “Juicy” last Summer and that is without a doubt worth a listen.
Here’s what’s been written about Shemce’s remix of “Strobe”:
My take on the legendary “Strobe” by the legendary Deadmau5 . . . .
– Shemce
Shemce is back at it with his lush remix of fellow Canadian, Deadmau5’s, Strobe. This track takes the classic tune and flips it into a thick layered summer jam with spacey bridges that snap back into heavy house rhythms. Complex layers give the familiar chords new depth and an indie-dance vibe that Shemce has become known for. Grab this one as a free download!
