If my quest for the funkiest House track in all the land ended today I’d be very happy using Platinum Doug‘s newest track “Brown Sugar” as the trophy. While the Funk House and G-House producer remains relatively anonymous by staying out of the social media spotlight, his music certainly does a lot of talking for him. I first caught wind of Platinum Doug when I heard his track “Serious Moods” played amongst the G-House crowd (I can’t remember who played it but I have to assume guys like Amine Edge & Dance or Sirus Hood threw it in their sets). More recently I’ve been huge on the tracks coming out of the Enormous Tunes camp. The label is based in Zurich Switzerland and has released work by EDX, Croatia Squad, Nora En Pure, Mark Lower, and plenty more. Just last week I posted the track “Show Me” by Me & My Toothbrush who also release tracks on Enormous Tunes.
Yesterday’s release by Platinum Doug of “Brown Sugar” shows us just how funky the producer can go – and just how skilled he is in the studio. I may be mistaken but I think the sample used is D’Angelo’s 1995 hit “Brown Sugar” and you can take a listen to that HERE. Fat bass lines, soulful vocals, and a House beat that doesn’t stop – you can bet your ass I found a fantastic dance floor destroyer to play this weekend.
Make sure to show Platinum Doug some love by purchasing this one on Beatport, and check out the Croatia Squad remix while you’re at it!
