Drum & Bass is a dance music sub-genre typically reserved for the underground by way of sweaty raves and UK parties. Personally speaking I’ve never been a huge fan of Drum & Bass but knowing how popular it is among many people around the world I certainly can’t speak ill of it. There are very few artists who manage to bridge the gap between this underground genre and the more mainstream side of dance music and one of those producers continues to be Netsky. Boris Daenen, the Belgian producer behind “Rio” is probably one of the most popular names in Drum & Bass and if you polled the average dance music fan to name an artist in the genre, his name would likely be among the top of the list (anyone up for some Family Feud)?
“Rio” dropped over 4th of July weekend but in case you missed it I wanted to make sure you took a listen. Netsky produced the track with UK producer Digital Farm Animals and it really is a fun Summery anthem working its way toward one million plays on SoundCloud. For the “Rio” video, Netsky teamed up with animation collective Powster. The cartoon-style clip features Digital Farm Animals (as Powster’s signature pig) and Netsky on an adventure through the beaches and nightclubs of Brazil’s Rio.
Look for “Rio” to appear on NETSKY’s new artist album to be released later this year.
