How about some tasty G-House and Funk House to get you right for the weekend? Jon Gilman aka GBallz aka ANIMAL at your services, delivering you the “Over Me” remixes that were released a couple weeks ago. Sharam Jey and Tapesh both know a thing or two about funky House music and both of them are at the top of my list when I need to dig up something special. “Over Me” was originally released back in 2012 on Sharam Jey’s Bunny Tiger label, which was only the fifth release on the young label at the time. Recently the label has been releasing remixes of its older songs, to give them a fresh 2015 makeover, and it’s a fantastic move to dig some tunes out of the closet while giving hot producers their chance at stamping their names on the music. Generally speaking, if you’re ever in need of some dance floor weapons by way of G-House or something super fresh, Bunny Tiger’s got you covered.
The “Over Me!” remixes feature work by The Beatangers & Boogie Vice, Phonique, and Moonbootica. Each remix adds the respective producer’s touch on an already-great track and it’s interesting to see what other directions were taken on these House beats. I’ll have to give biggest acknowledgement to, as always, The Beatangers (and Boogie Vice) because their remix of “Over Me!” has emerged as my favorite. Boogie Vice & The Beatangers’ mix keeps things at 118bpm, adds some scratching, a fat bass line, and an overall amazing bounce that anyone with a pulse will start dancing to. Moonbootica turns the track into a slightly faster Piano House tune and I highly respect the direction they took. My least favorite would be Phonique’s remix, not to say that it’s bad if I were listening to it on its own, but compared to the other versions it doesn’t quite do it for me.
