The Beatangers Exclusive MMIBTY Mixtape – August 2015 [FREE DOWNLOAD]

Talk about a treat. Possibly my favorite House act of the moment, French duo The Beatangers, have sent over an exclusive mixtape amidst their first-ever U.S. tour. The Beatangers aren’t just any House duo, they stem from the excellent G-House realm that fuses House beats with fat bass lines and Hip-Hop vocal hooks. Blended in there is usually some sort of Funk and/or G-Funk for a final product that few can replicate but many many people love getting down to. I first stumbled upon the Beatangers when I heard their track “What’s That Sound” – a song that samples the classic bass line of Chic’s 1970s hit “Good Times” with the vocal hook of Skee-Lo’s “I Wish” – a concoction that is almost too infectious. In fact, I included “What’s That Sound” on one of my Deep & Late mix editions but I’m hardly the only one who included it in mixes or live sets. Last week I also posted The Beatangers’ remix of “Over Me!” originally by Sharam Jey & Tapesh – a track that is sure to get your body moving.

While little biographical information is known about The Beatangers, their music clearly does the talking for them. Signed to notable underground/G-House/funk-driven House labels like Loulou Records (Kolombo), CUFF (Amine Edge & Dance), Bunny Tiger (Sharam Jey), and recently Enormous Tunes (Nora En Pure, Croatia Squad) the boys are quickly catching fire now more than ever. According to Facebook they were founded in 2012 and it seems the world is finally catching up, as a U.S. tour is certainly a sign that The Beatangers are in demand.

To my disappointment The Beatangers had to cancel their San Francisco show due to visa issues, as I was excited to catch them at Audio last week. Luckily only the San Francisco and San Diego shows have been rescheduled, as The Beatangers head to Santa Barbara, New York City, Boston, and Palm Springs within the next week. In anticipation of The Beatangers’ show here in San Francisco I realized I had never heard a mix or live set by them and to help them promote their tour they were so kind as to put together this FIRE mixtape.

While only 30 minutes in length, this mixtape is exactly what you need to wet your whistle for any Beatangers show or to get you amped up for a night out. I was starting to have concerns that the French-influenced style of G-House was starting to fall by the wayside, but this mix excites me and makes me realize the best is very well yet to come.

I’ll shut up now and let you listen to the mix. A GIANT thank you to the Beatangers – looking forward to much much much more from you in the near future!
