Defected Records is a House music label that just doesn’t miss. Several weeks back I posted the long-awaited “Spandex” by Will Clarke, a song on the Defected label that will surely destroy dance floors around the world for months to come. Monday’s release by Purple Disco Machine & Boris Dlugosch called “L.O.V.E.” is another track I’ve been waiting to get my hands on and it’s easy to see why. While not quite as quirky as “Spandex”, Purple Disco Machine’s track contains just the right amount of funk and just the right amount of soul. Most dance music fans will recognize the vocals from Cassius’ track “I Love You So” and Hip Hop fans will recall Jay-Z & Kanye West’s “Why I Love You”. But the original vocal comes from the 1974 track “I Feel A Song (In My Heart)” by Gladys Knight & The Pips.
If you don’t know Purple Disco Machine you need to do yourself a favor and sort through his tracks and mixes – especially if you’re a House junkie like me. Enjoy!
