And one more day to go! Looks like we’ve made it to another Survival Sunday and this weekend I have some super special stuff because this Survival Sunday lasts two days. Before I get into some of the best tracks from the week, I want to recap some of the awesome music that came through Denver this week. First, Laidback Luke took to the decks at Beta Nightclub in downtown Denver, who was for that night debuting new “production elements” to enhance the club. Putting up an amazing tracklist and his unreal mixing skills, he crushed a 2-hour set throwing down everything from his originals to remixes galore and even some crushing dubstep and techno classics. See the tracklist and dl the set after the jump but standout tracks included his original “Timebomb”, an edit of Rage Against The Machine banger “Killing In The Name Of”, Flux’s “Bass Cannon” (first time I’ve gotten to hear that track live!), and the age-old classic “Sandstorm”, the quintessential techno song.

Then last night, simultaneously marked by the debut show of the year at Red Rocks and my first time at the world-famous venue, Emancipator, Big Boi, Rusko, and The Disco Biscuits threw down at the last night of Bisco’s 3-day stint in Denver at this mini-festival called Bisco Inferno. Without beating around the bush, I was obviously there for Rusko and spent most of the first Bisco set dicking around with the rest of the crowd who could care less about the jam band. When Rusko came over the speakers and I found myself running to the front to witness his greatness, the crowd lost their mind as the music completely switched from slow grooves to blasting dubstep. Dropping all his hits and a few new songs, plus “Bass Cannon” (prefacing it by saying “I have to do it…”) and a host of other songs made for a great, albeit short, show after which (in classic Rusko style) he nearly had to be dragged away from the decks.

First, a new take on Deadmau5 interesting attempt at dubstep off his new album. I liked the original, sort of, but this is by far the superior version, a danceable and far less “dark” track.

Lastly, a new dubstep (I guess?) banger from Adam F. Keep your eye on this guy, he’s been silently releasing songs like this one for a while now and he’s bound to blow up.
